Description

"iVeggieGarden is the newest iPhone garden app, and the best I've seen." -Jim McCausland, Sunset Magazine

Developed on a small farm, to help you grow vegetables!

It's finally here - a comprehensive reference, planning, and tracking application designed for gardeners at any experience level.

iVeggieGarden was developed by people who have a passion for growing vegetables. We've relied on years of first-hand experience to identify the most relevant information about vegetable gardening, and organize it into an effective, flexible, and easy-to-use product. We've also provided helpful tools that allow you to track the progress of each item in your garden, manage multiple gardens, build a shopping list, track purchases, and more.

It's the perfect resource for looking up answers to questions, and for capturing garden-related data, notes, and photos while out "in the field."

And, in the off-season, it's the ideal tool for researching and planning your next garden.

Features:

Over 50 vegetable types

Over 500 vegetable varieties

Complete growing information for every vegetable type (germination temperatures, planting depth and spacing, soil pH, growing and harvest tips, etc.)

Custom planting dates for every vegetable type by USDA hardiness zone

Complete variety descriptions, including images, average size and/or weight, days to maturity, disease resistance, and notable attributes such as open-pollinated, heirloom, container-friendly, cold or heat tolerant, AAS winner, etc.

Ability to add your own vegetable types and varieties

Powerful filtering capability allows you to search for varieties based on common name, scientific name, description, size range, weight range, days to maturity range, notable attributes (e.g., open-pollinated, heirloom, container-friendly, cold or heat tolerant, AAS winner, etc.), and/or type-specific attributes (e.g., only indeterminate tomatoes, only pickling cucumbers, etc.)

Could be much better

:
For the price, I was expecting more information already entered and more tools for planning your garden like some other apps have.

This app seems to be geared to experienced gardeners that know what they are doing and don't mind entering lots of their own information and are knowledgable enough to know about planting times for the varieties that are not listed (which are a lot). For a newbie like me, it doesn't seem worth the trouble.

It would be more useful if you live around the area where the builders lives (Massachusetts), because the wealth of information they possess seems a bit area specific, even though you can specify you USDA zone.

I found it a bit ironic that the reason I heard of this app was because it was recommended by Sunset Magazine online and yet, they don't use the Sunset planting zones which I believe are more accurate than the USDA ones, but that's not the app's fault, I just assumed it had more of that info.

It's a great idea, but it needs more information and better, or at least faster, tech support.
